It’s about time I updated you all on my Forum Infidelity.

I did not confess my sins. I did not beg forgiveness.

I have, however returned to my favourite forum. Somewhat meekly at first, then with all the gusto and passion common to the guilty.

It would seem that the shiny newness of other forums and friendships with forum members outside the forum walls has worn a little; the situation has cooled.

My original post was tongue in cheek, I didn’t really feel terribly guilty about beoming addicted to forums or “cheating on the forum” with other forum members.

Because of the post - despite all it’s silliness, I have discovered something interesting.

People are searching for information about cheating online or online infidelity in numbers I was both surprised and saddened by. To a lesser extent they are searching for Australian Forums (so I will add a link with a list of some that I know of below) but mostly I am interested in exploring the idea of online infidelity.

Entrecard Sucks

I am an EntreCard undesirable. I think I am as qualified as anyone to comment on why Entrecard sucks as I am a big part of the cause.

My blog is commercial, it is largely uninteresting when on topic and only occassionally, somewhat interesting when off topic and is updated once a week at best.

I am a loyal reciprocal dropper - if the lowest quality blog imaginable (short of the completely immoral - which would not be allowed on Entrecard anyway) drops on me I will drop back.

Most days I drop and run.

I now drop the maximum cards everyday and in that time am in and out as fast as possible.

Am I the reason Entrecard sucks?

Lets consider me some more shall we? :)

When I drop and run, I regularly, accidentally miss the mark and hit ads.

When I drop I have to keep my eyes open and I can not help but notice posts of interest.

On the 1 in 5 days I don’t drop and run - I comment on some of the interesting posts I’ve seen through the week and stumble a few here and there too.

I have found some really great blogs through Entrecard I would never have found otherwise and am actually genuinely grateful for that, especailly the following:

Aussie Cynic

Imaginif

I have become completely addicted to

Marge & Edna’s Basement

Caledonian Comment

History’s Mystery’s (sadly, recently departed)

Others I love to check in on:

Splinters

Paperkraft

Words Words Words

Uncommon Photographers

The Junk Drawer

Google Stalking

I’m not beautiful like you

Rants, Thoughts and Other Things

As well as at least half a dozen others ( I choose to highlight these as they are examples of the blogs that I would NEVER HAVE FOUND otherwise)  some of these I don’t drop on; beacuse I am a reciprocal dropper and some of these bloggers are either more popular or discerning than me (fine either way) but I still make the effort to go find them at least once a week.

And I wouldn’t have room to list all the blogs that I am learning things about Wordpress and Plugins and SEO from (massive amount of room for improvement noted - no idea what I’ve done with these font/default settings atm).

Now just one more point - there are masses of blogs I drop on and have never commented on and barely read despite the fact I am dropping there everyday like

Drupal Developer in Jakarta

Now, yes this is timely because I happen to be planning a Drupal Project and do you know what I first thought when I realised I’d be needing a lot of work done?

I should contact Drupal Developer in Jakarta. My first correspondence is sure to include are you on elance? Can we discuss a possible project?

On a similar note - A blog involving Professional Counselling & Child Protection is for sale and I’m planning to discuss it as a possible venture for my mother when she visits this weekend though she is not a counsellor and may not be interested - who knows?

So next time you look at your Bounce Stats think of me - I am surely contributing to those depressing figures, but so much more is happening in that 27 seconds than can be reported in a statistic.

Sydney

Sydney

Our Sydney Web Hosting plan is the big daddy of our Web Hosting Australia plans.  It offers the most storage and bandwidth of all our plans and it is priced at many of our competitors starting plan prices.

We have not seen a better value Australian Web Hosting plan - offering this kind of storage and bandwidth period.

Viruses Are Contagious

Viruses Are Contagious

I picked up my toddler from preschool last Monday and he was happy as usual to see me, flushed and tired from a day running with the other kids, painting his clothes, depositing sand into all kinds of places and losing his socks.

On Wednesday he was vomiting all over me and had pains in the stomach (tummy sore Mummy) and something I will politely describe as diahorrea.

We went to the doctor to eliminate all the worst case scenarios and went home for rest and fluids. A virus. In 24 hours it had passed though I decided he’d have to miss the following day at pre-school to be sure which is always tough to do as he only goes two days a week and just loves it.

On Friday morning, I woke to severe abdominal pain, a bed spinning sense of nausea and my toddler’s adorable but clumsy fingers on my eyelids (awake Mummy?)

I will politely describe the next 40 hours as violently ill.

But How Far Do You Go To Make A Sale?

I recently threw away a weeks work as an affiliate, on a product launch by not recommending the product on launch day - what an idiot! I had Yahoo’s top two spots, and 2 places on Google’s first page and the Top 4 for Google Australia for the product title search.

My landing page invited emails from interested parties as to why I was not recommending the latest, greatest, must have program for affilliates to make money through adwords campaigns.

I was inundated with emails.

My point here is only that this is how I became friends with G.

G is the mother of three kids under 10 - one of them is about a month younger than my toddler. She and her husband both work full time and she is studying part time. They hate their jobs but they are in debt.

G is trying to make money online to get out of debt and get a life more like the one she dreams of.

Now Wait - this was a long and boring post so I sent an email to G and asked her if I could I post our email correspondence from the other day and she said yes - so here it is almost completely unedited:

Hey Robyn,

I need some quick advice, I have been contacted about getting a mentor, through Shawn Casey. Do you recommend this, there is a cost for this but they guarantee profits within 3-6 months.

What do you think?

Thanks G

Hi G,

Firstly don’t rush any decision, no matter how “urgent” the sales
letter, cause remember that’s what it is.

How much is it?
Who will be your mentor?
How many others will that person be mentoring?
What is the program?

Remember that $1 more than expenditure is a profit.

Get back to me,

Cheers Robyn
