Our Sydney Web Hosting plan is the big daddy of our Web Hosting Australia plans.  It offers the most storage and bandwidth of all our plans and it is priced at many of our competitors starting plan prices.

We have not seen a better value Australian Web Hosting plan - offering this kind of storage and bandwidth period.

We purchased Australian Servers to meet the needs of our customers and potential customers. At least once a week were asked if we provided Australian Web Hosting and found that those potential customers were mostly going elsewhere when they learned our packages were for US based servers only.

So what are the benefits of local servers? Basically it boils down to response time. In lay terms if your website has or is likely to have mostly Australian visitors they are more likely to have the fastest possible response time from Australian Servers. If your visitors are international the fastest possible response time will more than likely be from international servers.

Interesting stuff huh?

There is an interesting aspect to this issue and it has to do with the Almighty Google and the relevance (if any) Google places on the location of a website’s servers.

The best debate I’ve seen on the subject raged on a forum I now frequent (but was fairly new to at the time) and it’s amongst the most viewed threads on the forum to this day:

By the way - the offer I made in my post for free hosting as an experiment was taken up long ago…

My first blog post coincides with exciting news. Synchronicity Hosting has finally ( I say finally because we researched and debated and mused, and researched some more and ok procrastinated a little before we) acquired Australian Servers to provide current and future customers with a truly Australian Web Hosting service.

Now, we all have different opinions regarding the importance of local servers, and quite frankly I can’t be bothered going into whether or not it makes any difference at all to your SEO for Australian Search Engine Searches. This really isn’t the purpose of this post - so let’s move on.

After negotiating and making the purchase, the next most important thing on our minds was naming the new Australian Hosting packages.

NAMING THE AUSTRALIAN WEB HOSTING PACKAGES

Daniel: “Lets just name them the same way we named the existing packages and I can get on with the SEO”

Robyn: ” We’ll have two more packages then the existing packages. What are we going to add? What’s more valuable than Diamond?”

Daniel: ” Just start the packages lower and add whatever - Bronze and Copper”

Robyn screwing up her face. “No, it already seems too class divided, I dont like it as it is”

Daniel screwing up his face “Class Divided?”

Sutty: “Who wants to buy a Copper Plan? You just feel like **** that you can’t afford a better plan when you don’t even need a better plan.”

Robyn: “Yeah - I go to sign up for a hosting plan and am made to feel like crap about myself”

Daniel rolling his eyes: “Oh my God!”

Robyn: “It should be something different, something Australian…. what about Australian Rivers? Our High School Sports teams were local Rivers.”

Daniel: “No, I think you’ll find they were explorers and a couple of them had rivers named after them”

Robyn: “Oh yeah, that’s right.”

Sutty: “What about fish?”

Robyn:”What about fish?”

Sutty: “Name the packages after Australian Fish?”

Robyn looks directly at Daniel as though he had spoken last. She seems to be saying something to him without words. Sutty does not know the silent language they speak. He doesn’t want to know.

Robyn: “What about beers?”

Sutty: “Good Call” Sutty laughs, genuinely surprised such a good suggestion came from her, ”that’s better than fish”

Robyn is doing a search for Australian Rivers and is shaking her head ever so slightly.

Sutty: “Tooheys Extra Dry Platinum, Crown Lager, Cascade Premium, you’d have to include some of the **** weak beers to keep the peace. We’ll probably get emails from people from different states complaining about the order we put them in.”

Daniel: “Boag’s”

Robyn: “Horrible beer, tastes like XXXX. Do you like ‘em?”

Sutty: “Every state thinks their beers are the best.” He smiles shaking his head. Robyn laughs.

Daniel: “Name them after the states.”

Robyn counting the number of plans from the notepad in front of her. “We have 6 plans. That means we’d have to leave out the territories.”

Daniel: “So”

Robyn: “I’d feel bad leaving out the Northern Territory.”

Daniel raises his eyebrows and opens his mouth but makes no sound.

Robyn: “I don’t care about Canberra.”

Sutty: “What was the name of that beer at the Beer Fest, not the last time we went, the last time it was at the Story Bridge, I had to use two tickets and -”

Robyn/Daniel “Redback”

Its quiet for a minute, and Sutty sighs; “We’re not going with beers are we?”

Robyn: “What about the capital cities - the 6 largest capital cities”

Daniel doing a search: “Ok here we go - I didnt know Perth was bigger than Adelaide”

Robyn: “We’re going by population right?”

Daniel nods looking at the list.

Robyn: “I think I like it”

Daniel: “It should be good for our SEO; tying Australian City names to our keywords”

Sutty: “It woulda been cool to name them after beers”

Robyn: “Yeah, it would’ve been.”
