Viruses Are Contagious
I picked up my toddler from preschool last Monday and he was happy as usual to see me, flushed and tired from a day running with the other kids, painting his clothes, depositing sand into all kinds of places and losing his socks.
On Wednesday he was vomiting all over me and had pains in the stomach (tummy sore Mummy) and something I will politely describe as diahorrea.
We went to the doctor to eliminate all the worst case scenarios and went home for rest and fluids. A virus. In 24 hours it had passed though I decided he’d have to miss the following day at pre-school to be sure which is always tough to do as he only goes two days a week and just loves it.
On Friday morning, I woke to severe abdominal pain, a bed spinning sense of nausea and my toddler’s adorable but clumsy fingers on my eyelids (awake Mummy?)
I will politely describe the next 40 hours as violently ill.
When I was finally able to sit down at the computer, (my God is the screen always that blindingly bright?) I logged in to my email and my computer shut down.
What the?
I started it again.
Windows blad blah blah - Send Error Report? - Don’t Send.
“Ok how much action have I missed?” I say to the email login.
I have not even typed in the password and the computer shuts down.
Windows has encountered a Fatal Error…
A Fatal Error! A Fatal Error!
I saw hysteria running toward me with fleshy wide open arms. She was moving fast.
I took a deep breath and started the computer again. Just what kind of contamination were pre-school’s full of these days? I almost smiled.
I spent about 4 hours (thank God for Nan) rebooting, attempting scans and cleans before I gave up and did a system restore.
Start. Programs. Accessories. System Tools. System Restore.
A time machine. It’s a beautiful thing. I dont know what happened, but I’m glad I backup my system and create system restore points regularly.
Now if only we could do that with our bodies.

I have experienced that same feeling of hysteria many times. I can only imaging how much worse it is following a stomach bug. A few months ago, my computer was recalled so not only was it not working right, but I had to send it back to HP to be fixed. The nice thing was, it worked fine after that. I hope yours behaves itself in the future. Feel better!
