We purchased Australian Servers to meet the needs of our customers and potential customers. At least once a week were asked if we provided Australian Web Hosting and found that those potential customers were mostly going elsewhere when they learned our packages were for US based servers only.

So what are the benefits of local servers? Basically it boils down to response time. In lay terms if your website has or is likely to have mostly Australian visitors they are more likely to have the fastest possible response time from Australian Servers. If your visitors are international the fastest possible response time will more than likely be from international servers.

Interesting stuff huh?

There is an interesting aspect to this issue and it has to do with the Almighty Google and the relevance (if any) Google places on the location of a website’s servers.

The best debate I’ve seen on the subject raged on a forum I now frequent (but was fairly new to at the time) and it’s amongst the most viewed threads on the forum to this day:

By the way - the offer I made in my post for free hosting as an experiment was taken up long ago…
